Halloween

Daddy enjoyed a special birthday treat... as Peter Pan! Evan was in love with his Captain Hook costume. The boys have recently become enamored with everything pirate.

This was the first year that we carved pumpkins with the boys. They were so excited about creating jack-o-lanterns, but did NOT want to touch the pumpkin guts.

4th of July '11

In true Peachtree City style, we overdid it for the 4th. Parade in the a.m., pool for lunch and fireworks late into the evening. It was an exhausting day, but since the 4th is one of my favorite holidays, it's exactly what I would have wanted.

 Evan was yelling, "Happy 4th of July!" Grant was yelling, "Happy Father's Day!"

Easter 2011

We spent Easter again this year in Hilton Head and as always, had a great time soaking up the sun and enjoying time with grandparents. Evan rekindled his love of the water both at the pool and in the ocean -- he got really good at riding the boogie board. Our camera was on the fritz, so we have but just one picture from our trip.

Trip-or-Treat

Grant's favorite thing to say on Halloween this year? "Trip or Treat!" The boys both enjoyed collecting candy this year and the loot was plentiful. Despite my alternate suggestions, Evan chose to dress as Superman. And in spite of changing his mind 15 times, Grant dressed as his original choice, Woody from Toy Story. We were treated to a visit from Nana (my mom) to enjoy the festivities (and sift through the candy in search of Reeses Cups). Like any decent Peachtree City resident, we traveled from house to house via golf cart caravan. These kids are lucky. When I was their age, I had to WALK to get my candy. Oh, the humanity!

Happy 4th!

We attended the July 4th Peachtree City parade this morning. Nothing like buckets full of candy before 10am! The kids crashed by noon.

Catching up, Easter, Hilton Head, etc.

Lots has gone on but I've had little time to share about it. We traveled to Hilton Head last weekend for Easter and to see grandparents. The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time playing at the beach, visiting a local petting zoo and parks, and overindulging in food.

Holiday prep

Two projects in one: rainy day painting activity & making our own festive wrapping paper for Christmas! I think we'll make this a yearly tradition -- I just love how it turned out.

(PS: The outfit on Evan, ie, the hat, was a result of Jason's creative humor after making a paint smock. And why we only made Evan wear a paint smock, I have no idea. Not smart.)

Halloween 2009

This year, we all got into the spirit. Jason and I went to a costume party (thanks Yuki!) as Velma and Shaggy from Scooby Doo. It's too bad you can't see the bottom of Jason's pants -- I made a rockin' set of bell bottoms using leftover fabric from our recliner.

Evan, as you already know, was a king. The "friend" he's holding onto is his class project, Eeyore. Each kid gets to take Eeyore home for a week and then record the adventures into a journal for the kids to read the following week. We were lucky to have Eeyore during Halloween, and as you can see, Eeyore was not without costume.

Grant wore Evan's doggy costume from last year (sorry kid, hand-me-downs are just a fact of life).

Since the weather on Halloween was awful, we only went to a handful of houses (but for a 3-year-old, it doesn't take much to please) -- and traveled by golf cart, of course. I'm convinced it's the best way to trick-or-treat. We're spoiled here in PTC...

Had to include this shot, even though it's really blurry. Can you tell how much Grant liked his costume? He finally succumbed to parental pressure and wore it without a fuss, but the beginning was kind of rocky.
