Just your average Friday

You know, the average Friday where your grandparents show up, unexpected, on your doorstep (after traveling 9 hours) and produce a new golf cart. Yeah, that kind of Friday.

PS: Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

PPS: For those unfamiliar with Peachtree City and wondering why we would be so excited about a golf cart, see here.

Uncle Shane would be so proud...

...of Evan's clean hands.

Peachtree City Vagrant

We just had to pick him up and take him home. He was holding a sign that said "Will play trains for cupcakes."

Friends

These photos are at least two weeks overdue, but too cute not to post.

Our friends, Heather, Andy and two girls Bella and Sophia came to stay with us for a night.

Later that same weekend, Evan and Tai went on an Easter egg hunt together.

A child's perspective

Scene: Yesterday, at the park, getting ready to leave.

Me: Let's get ready and go home so we can eat dinner. I'm hungry!
Evan: Me too!
Me: Me 3!
Evan: Me 4!
Me: Me 5!
Evan: No Mom, you not 5, you 7-0.
Me: What??

Even the smallest of creatures...

...can't escape the dreaded sweetgum balls.

Easter

Finding baskets.

Eating cookies...

...sometimes all in one bite.

Hunting for eggs.

Most favorite egg: the one that held a bright orange golf ball. (the golf ball has now been confiscated; note to parents: golf balls are not good indoor toys)

When the weather is nice...

We plant tomatoes...

We eat outside...

We squint our eyes...

And we pressure wash.

Who doesn't love a good cupcake?

Sweet anticipation...

Just a little taste.

And now for the grand finale.

Win a cool bike & support a worthy cause

Have you been thinking to yourself, "Hmm, where could I enter to win a bike and support a charitable cause at the same time?" If you have, well then today is your lucky day!

My uncle Warren is training for his first-ever triathlon and he's doing it as a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. If you're a long-time reader of this blog, you may remember that Jason and I both participated in Team in Training. It is an amazing program and a very worthy cause.

Anyway, back to the point. As part of his fundraising, Warren is raffling off this bike:

It's a Trek 7.5 FX Hybrid/Cross bike, plus a new helmet -- a $1040 value! And get this -- he's selling the tickets for only $10 each! He'll only be selling 300 tickets, so your chances of winning are pretty decent (it's not 1 in a million, ok). The bike will be raffled off on May 3, so you have just a few weeks to get your chance to win.

Here's how to buy your raffle tickets: Purchase your tickets via Paypal. Send the money (1 ticket = $10, 2 tickets = $20, and so on) to Warren's Paypal account at opperman.warren@att.net. Be sure to include your contact information with your transaction so that you can be reached if you win. Purchase your tickets before May 3 to enter!

If you don't want a new bike, but would still like to donate toward Warren's fundraising efforts (c'mon folks, he's trying to raise $7500!), visit his training and fundraising Website at http://pages.teamintraining.org/in/Steelhd09/wopperman. All donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE! Plus, they go to a great cause.

Thanks everybody!

Mending

This picture is for my Grandma to show her Evan's newly mended and lengthened jeans. Apparently I can only get away with this for a couple more years before it becomes way uncool to mend jeans with boyishly cute fabric.

Kids are mmm-mmm cute

Martha's back...

Whipped these "babycakes" up last weekend for a baby shower I helped throw. Turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

Our new front lawn...

Includes a nice water feature.

Think I could send this one into GAP? (Click photo to see the fine print.)

See those baggy pants? That is the result of four-day stomach bug with very little food. I bought a carton of ice cream to fatten him back up.

Here's one more reason to love Roomba:

It keeps my ants-in-his-pants Grant busy for almost a whole hour.

Pretty soon, he'll be blogging too

Because any normal person does this:

(If you look closely, he's mowing while drinking coffee. Now that's what I call an addict.)
