The fire pit!

This has been a long time coming. Jason has talked for ages weeks about building a fire pit. After a few weekends of a lot of work, here it is!

An evening out

A few weeks ago, I tagged along to an evening event with Jason for the AAAE conference at the Aquarium in Atlanta. The kids stayed with a friend for the night while Jason & I shook hands, mingled, ate and answered the same set of questions to every person we encountered: 1) How far along are you? 2) Is this your first? 3) Do you know what you're having? 4) You must be hoping for a girl? We had a fun night (in spite of my pregnant self walking in heels ALL night long)-- I was especially thrilled when we ran into a "Death by Chocolate" after-party. It was like they planned it just for me!

Brothers can hang out in their underwear

Recently, Evan has taken a particular liking to hanging around the house in only his underwear. When asked why, he responded, "Because I want to be just like Daddy."

Footnote: For the record, Daddy does not [typically] hang around the house in his underwear.

Pictures - because that's really why you come here

Ahh, the La-Z-Boy chair. It has definitely seen it's better days in terms of style, but it's perfect for a snuggle with the boys on a cold Saturday morning.

And when Dad leaves to refill his coffee, the boys are happy to sit together (briefly) and watch a little Disney Channel. This picture also shows that both boys now have a "lovie." Evan is holding onto his cherished (and so-so-grubby) Nigh-Night Bear and Grant now has "Bear," which he asks for at night time and during naps.

Nothing much to say here, just a cute shot of Grant.

Dad of the Year award...

Goes to: Jason. For sacrificing his night of sleep, on a work night even, to watch over Evan (who had a croupy cough throughout the night) so that I could have a much-needed restful night's sleep.

Back to triathlon

For the first time in a long time, Jason competed in a triathlon this past Saturday in Peachtree City. It was a sprint distance (.3 mi swim, 14 mi bike and 3.1 mi run), so not an Ironman, but difficult in its own respect. Evan, Grant and I were all there at the finish line to cheer him in. Didn't get any action shots, but here's one of Jason with the rest of our friends who competed.

Because any normal person does this:

(If you look closely, he's mowing while drinking coffee. Now that's what I call an addict.)

2009 training begins

The boys (minus Grant) went out for their first night run this evening. The event was made even more exciting because Evan got his own flashlight. Thus begins training for Jason's 2009 races (no Ironman, "just" a marathon and some shorter triathlons). I'll begin my daytime runs with Grant later this week to train for a half marathon in March.

Baby blues

Well, it looks like child #2 will also have Daddy's blue eyes.

Happy Father's Day

For the first time in a very long time, I spent Father's Day with my dad. My dad and step-mom have been visiting us this past week to spend time with their grandkids. Father's Day started with a big breakfast and was followed by naps. Later in the evening, Jason grilled his famous chicken wings and then we cruised around Peachtree City in a golf cart, stopping to do things that fathers love to do with their kids--feed ducks and fish, watch the sunset, wade in the lake and eat ice cream.
