"How I Spent My Summer"

If there was one word that described the summer of 2011 for us, it would be: "pool." We've averaged about 3 trips a week to the pool. And more often than not, at least one of the boys' friends join us. More recently, the boys and their friends have been making little picnics during adult swim time. It's so cute -- they all pool their food together and sit and share with each other.

Home Depot workshop

For the last couple of months, we have been taking both boys to the Home Depot workshop. They get a small pre-fab kit, instructions and tools to put it together. Oh, and perhaps the most exciting part, they get a snack after they complete it. This weekend's project was a wooden pencil box. Tai and Yuki joined us before we all spent a day at the pool.

4th of July '11

In true Peachtree City style, we overdid it for the 4th. Parade in the a.m., pool for lunch and fireworks late into the evening. It was an exhausting day, but since the 4th is one of my favorite holidays, it's exactly what I would have wanted.

Evan was yelling, "Happy 4th of July!" Grant was yelling, "Happy Father's Day!"

Mother's Day

I had a fun Mother's Day this year... I was treated to a gourmet homemade breakfast, the kids painted birdhouses, we had a picnic, went fishing, and then I had the afternoon to myself for some shopping.

One too many snow days

A snow day here and there is fun. Five are not. But it does make for some good photos.

Absence

I guess I've been spending too much time "in the moment," thus the lack of posts lately. I'm loving this time of year--fall. It's beautiful around here. The lakes are bordered by a kaleidoscope of color-changing trees and the cart paths are littered with golden, orange and burgundy leaves, making them look more like the yellow-brick road and less like asphalt.

What's been happening? Soccer, family visits, school, friends, work-- you know, the norm. The kids are good--growing in size and spirit. Evan's favorite thing to say these days is "I have a good idea..." What follows is anyone's guess, but it is always creative. The kid is FULL of big ideas. Grant is equally as verbal. He likes to say "Alright." He's also super-snuggly and still loves to cuddle up with his mama. In fact, he's pretty affectionate toward everyone, including his brother, much to Evan's distress. As for the "brotherhood," well, it continues to evolve and dissolve on a daily basis. As would be expected, Grant adores his older brother despite not always feeling the love back. He also, as you might guess, spends a good deal of time annoying his brother.

'Nuf chitter chatter. On to the pictures.

Family visit

Last weekend, we were treated to a visit from brother/brother-in-law DJ, sister-in-law Heather and nephew Connor. We spent most of the weekend gallivanting around town in the golf cart, hopping from park to house and back, along with an afternoon at the Georgia Air Show. Can you see the family resemblance in Connor? Reminds me a little of this kid.

Line Creek Nature Preserve

The boys and I enjoyed a morning out at a local nature area. Unfortunately, it ended abruptly after Evan pushed Grant into the water. Oh well-- we'll try again next time!

Happy 4th!

We attended the July 4th Peachtree City parade this morning. Nothing like buckets full of candy before 10am! The kids crashed by noon.
