13.1 miles in Nashville

In case you have ever wondered where Jason gets his athletic enthusiasm, look no further than his parents. This past weekend, Barbara and Hugh successfully completed their first half-marathon (13.1 miles) at the Nashville Country Music Marathon. Despite the threat of rain, the weather for race day turned out to be perfect-- overcast and high 60s to low 70s. Jason and I showed up as the support crew (see our t-shirts below) and cheered his parents on at the start and finish lines. With more than 22,000 race participants and the thousands of spectators, the energy in the crowd was electrifying!

Hugh finished in 2:27 and Barbara finished in 3:10. Alongside them was their friend Phyllis from Hilton Head who finished in 2:41. And, we're happy to report, no one had to be carried over the finish line! In fact, they are already planning for their next race!
